Breast augmentation, breast implants

Usually, we want to have everything smaller – thighs, buttocks, hands, bellies – we serve ourselves restrictive diets, exercise and generally strive after reducing weight. Meanwhile, at the same time, most women would like to enlarge their breasts. In the interwar years, attempts were made to enlarge the breasts using various materials: beeswax, ivory, glass, beef cartilage and even Teflon. As you can easily guess today – none of these methods worked. It was not until the 1960s that silicone implants were used for breast enlargement for the first time. Dr. Thomas Cronin in 1962 performed first breast implant surgery on Timmy Jean Lindsay, a thirty-year-old mother of six children.

Breast augmentation surgery

In our Clinic in Warsaw, patients can use two methods of breast augmentation and modeling. We provide natural methods such as increasing breast volume with autologous fat taken from the patient during liposuction and breast enlargement with silicone implants.

The patient is qualified for surgery during interdisciplinary consultation.

Our radiologist Dr. Lisowska advises on the choice of method (implants or autologous fat tissue transplantation) in terms of structure and possible changes in the mammary gland itself detected during ultrasound examination. On the other hand, the surgeon Dr. Barwijuk helps to choose the appropriate shape, size and type of implant as well as determines surgical technic which will be used while surgery. Method depends on the desired effect and body structure of the patient. If patient takes lipotransfer under consideration, surgeon while consultation discusses places from which adipose tissue can be taken.

Breast Implants

The most popular breast augmentation method is the one using the silicone implant. During surgery under general anesthesia, the surgeon places the implants under the muscle or under the breast gland, achieving sustaining effect of enlarging and lifting the breast. In our Clinic, we use Mentor implants with silicone filling for almost all surgeries, sometimes we use Motiva implants. Patients can choose between two types of implants: round (countered) or anatomical (tear drop). They are available in several types – with different sizes, profiles and shapes.

Round implants allow you to achieve the effect of full and lifted breasts. Their profile resembles a larger or smaller hemisphere. Implants have several projection heights: standard, medium, high and ultra-high. Anatomical implants are shaped in such a way as to most resemble the appearance of natural breasts (have a teardrop shape).

Breast augmentation with fat

An alternative method of breast enlargement without implants is autologous fat transplantation.

Fat tissue transfer is a proven method of breast augmentation, giving a natural effect of filling the breast without the use of silicone. Adipose tissue is taken from a selected part of the body and given to the breast, modeling their shape and firming. The treatment thanks to the possibility of retransposition of adipose tissue gives extensive possibilities of body contouring.
